Idemitsu Honda Team Asia logoAzlan Shah Kamaruzaman kicked off the Dutch Grand Prix at the TT Assen Circuit in The Netherlands coming in 20th fastest in the Moto2 opening practice on Thursday.
The Honda Team Asia racer who aims to continue racking up championship points this weekend posted his best lap in 1’39.079s in FP2 to break his personal best on the technical 4.5 kilometre circuit.

Earlier on, the 31-year old was 21st fastest in FP1, recording his best lap in 1’39.986s.

Teammate, Takaaki Nakagami who endured a difficult outing at the Catalunya Grand Prix registered 15th overall with 1’38.676s.

Meanwhile Frenchman, Johann Zarco topped the Moto2 timesheets with 1’37.670s ahead of Simone Corsi and Sam Lowes who clocked 1’37.866s and 1’37.878s respectively.
“I found a good feeling with the machine and improved the lap time bit by bit. Tomorrow I will focus on the management of the machine in the first and fourth sector which is currently my weakest point. I’m sure I can show an improvement on the lap time,”said Azlan who won the 2013 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship SuperSports 600cc title.

Team manager, Tadayuki Okada commented, “For Azlan, a key to improve the time will be ‘how to work the technical circuit’ like Assen. We will have a meeting to resolve the problem he faced today, and we will try to assist him in any way that we can for the final practice and qualifying.”
