Malaysian Cub Prix Championship logoMohd Zaqhwan Zaidi returns to the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship in time for Round 6 at Kemaman in Terengganu this coming August 19 and 20 after opting out of Teluk Intan last month in order to represent Honda Team Asia in the prestigious Suzuka 8-Hour Endurance Race.

Since then, the GiVi Honda Yuzy Racing rider had been kept busy as he followed up on his 8-Hour success by picking up a credible double podium finish in the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship in Indonesia.

However, all that international success had meant that his campaign on the national front have had to take a backseat. Zaqhwan shares the top spot of the Asia Road Racing Championship standings with former GP rider Tomoyoshi Koyama. But back home in Cub Prix, his absence from Teluk Intan has lost him a lot of ground as he dropped three positions to sixth overall with 45 points.

“It was unfortunate that the Teluk Intan race had clashed with the 8-Hour. Halting the progress of the Kasma Daniel and Ahmad Fazli Sham combo looks like an uphill battle, especially now that they have extended their lead margin. For the short term, I have Norizman Ismail in my sights. It is still possible to challenge for the third overall position,” said Zaqhwan.
