“I simply can’t afford to rest anymore,” said Ahmad Fazli Sham

Ahmad Fazli Sham has returned to heat up the competition as the 2017 PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship heads to Jasin, Melaka for Round 6 this weekend.

The seasoned campaigner, who races under team PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor livery, was absent from the grid during the previous leg in Selangor. It was a last-minute withdrawal due to complications from a pre-existing injury.

Even so, the Taiping born rider is still riding high on the championship ladder. He is currently third overall with 40 points.

“It was a relief to receive the green light from my doctors. I simply can’t afford to rest anymore,” said the 2007 and 2008 champion.

“Things have gotten very interesting in the second half of the season. Our team’s decision to offer Ramdan Rosli a permanent ride had roped in another fierce conpetitor with podium potential. Additionally, many of the teams seemed to have finally made some headway into the new 150cc category. Jasin being a new race venue, the equal playing field could yield interesting results,” he added.
