Asia Road Racing Championship leader, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman, finished ninth.

Round 4 of the Idemitsu Asia Road Racing Championship, held at the Sentul International Circuit in Indonesia, ended on a disappointing note for the Malaysian contingent.

In the SuperSports 600cc category, Malaysia’s best hope, Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi led the race for two laps before crashing out of a 2-second lead. Zaqhwaqn’s crash marked the start of a dramatic turn of events for the premiere class. Although not seriously injured, Zaqhwan’s crash happened in the middle of the track, a situation that brought out the red flag. Just as the riders were about to head back out on grid, a sudden squall delayed the re-start. The race was finally re-started and shortened to nine laps. Under the sodden conditions, Thai rider Decha Kraisart scored his first win of the season ahead of Ahmad Yudhistira and Chalermpol Polamai.

Most noteworthy was wildcard debutant Kasma Daniel Kasmayuddin. The young Malaysian maverick shone in the wet conditions and finished fifth behind Dimas Ekky Pratama. In his quest to improve his starting position.

Asia Road Racing Championship leader, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman.

Championship leader, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman, finished ninth. Not fully race-fit, the track conditions had been brutal on the Kawasaki rider. Azlan picked up enough points to keep his position at the top of the rankings.

The Asia Production 250cc class podium went to Indonesians Gerry Salim and Andi Farid Izdihar followed by Tomoyoshi Koyama in third place.

Finally in the Underbone 150cc category, Mohd Helmi Azman of Onexox TKKR Racing finished second, netting the only podium finish of the day for the Malaysian contingent. The Underbone race was won by wildcard rider Richard Taroreh while defending champion Wahyu Aji Trilaksana finished third.
